TAKE A BOW 03:00
Door knocks, you can't help but hide History's on the other side. How long til the day arrives That your friends are friends and your enemies are far away? There was a name that was once yours Now it won’t come back until they… Shut the pine corridor It's nicely built but it ain’t gonna take you anywhere GOODNIGHT, GOODNIGHT TAKE A BOW CUZ IT'S OVER NOW No time to check if she’s still there With crows feet surely, and greying Bouquets and pistols beyond compare All that’s left of a life you traded for emptiness GOODNIGHT, GOODNIGHT TAKE A BOW CUZ IT'S OVER NOW

It’s a fire in the night Long since asking if it’s right Oh what can you do It’s the cold steel in your hand It’s another dying man So what was the point? It’s sad Stuff you in a bag Wrap you in a flag My son you’ve been had There’s nothing left to say Doesn’t Matter anyway But we all fall in line For queen and country Queen and country Queen and country Things you believed in younger days Now they seem so far away So why are you here? Too late to come in from the cold Getting tired getting old Oh where are you now There’s nothing left to say Doesn’t Matter anyway But we all fall in line For queen and country Queen and country Queen and country

Are you ready? Are you waiting? Are you standing there in line? Gonna find out, for the first time, that it was all a lie One and two What will you do Once were heroes, and they stood up, in the best time of the year And they spoke out, but they’re all dead, and you wish they were still here But you’ll get through Wish you knew You can’t stop You can’t stop You can’t stop tomorrow Dogs are barking / in the distance / at a threat yet unseen Could be foreign / or domestic / or something in-between Flags red and blue Cut in two Shadows talking / in a whisper / if you could only hear But you're certain / that they're working / to make you disappear And they see through thought you knew

Hey Sheila they never would believe ya If you told them where your from Hey joe how could you know They you were not the only, not the only one Hey ida don’t hide it there inside ya You’ve got to tell him what you think Don’t write it don’t speak it or incite it Or it’ll find you on the long way around Into the night Fade Away Laid low sinking down slow in a world of dreams Get home how could you know that all is not as it seems Desolation they’re calling you to save them can’t you hear the sound Salvation stop the decimation or he’ll find you on the long way around

STAY WITH ME 03:47
7.
Scrape my boot on cobblestones and broken bottles Wonder how the summer got away On this forgotten Holiday Crossed a river in a city so familiar I was sure that I would know the way Looking for a Friendly face You can take the long way home Wait a while, I’m told In this city as old as time I’ve been drinking at the blackest rose Never a diamond shined half as fine I’m only drinking at the blackest rose You can tell that it’s the evening by the faces And the volume of the songs they play Pay your tab but you still can’t get away [talk] If a dream can mean as much as you and me when we were living all our yesterdays Would it matter if I tried to change I can take a punch and call you once or twice a month And I’ll come back alone For you In this city as old as time I’ve been drinking from the blackest rose Never a diamond shined half as fine I’m only dreaming of the blackest rose Alot of dirty water under neath a rusty bridge And all of your cousins turned out be pricks A solitary figure on a golden sea Looks much like the man that you’d like to be

THE VILLAIN 01:34
9.
Tick back upon the passing hour You hold your breath In the shadow of the cooling tower I can’t wait, can you? Are you in love with the nation states? You wanna watch them burn? Or grow old in their warm embrace? Or are you indifferent? You’re in love with the city When it’s not around But you know the city wants you Underground ,I hope you choke On the dying embers It’s time To grow cold for the sake of summer And love it as you’re leaving it behind Do you believe in nothing? Do you believe in nothing now? Do you believe in nothing? Nothing’ll save you anyhow Do you believe in nothing? Are you a hero of our day? Do you believe in nothing? Now that there’s nothing to save Think back when you lost your way. Did you find That you don’t appreciate What you brought with you? Kneel down in the setting sun Of your country’s prime Work you thought was never done Has been done for you. And the glow of the vapor lamps Shines off the salt On the frozen streets you travel. It’s not your fault, I know you cried For the fallen members Of your tribe Their dreams will not be forgotten You must be the hero of our time

COLONY SONG 03:23
Steal from the rich and they’ll make you pay Dragged across the ocean and locked away Four thousand fathoms We lost thirteen friends Landfall into Prisoner’s Bay We were separated They threw away the key! Four years gone now we’re FINALLY MAKING OUR ESCAPE! FINALLY MAKING OUR ESCAPE! STAND UP OUR CHAINS ARE BREAKING STAND UP OUR CHAINS ARE BREAKING WE’RE GOING HOME Tortured and brutalized We planned our judgment day We watched our captors And learned from their mistakes Then came that fateful night We passed a silent message It was time to strike! And We killed those bastards NEVER THOUGHT I’D SEE THE DAY BLACK FLAGS OVER PRISONER’S BAY WE’RE FINALLY MAKING OUR ESCAPE STAND UP OUR CHAINS ARE BREAKING STAND UP OUR CHAINS ARE BREAKING WE’RE GOING HOME

Pick away at old expectations/gunpowder and lipstick ohohohoh See the flower at the tundras edge/know she’s not who you think she is If you could shed your reputation/turn th page and leave it oh oh oh oh But the mirror is split in two/ and there’s nothing left that you can do oooh oooh It’s coming in color resplendent the flower of youth The flower of youth If I had the strength to change it/ don’t you know I wo-o-o-ould Face the memories that make you cry / hard truth that we can’t deny. Crumbled ruins under vegetation/ time moves like lightning, oh oh oh ohh Til I can’t even peer into / dirty windows shielding ancient pain from view oooh oooh It’s coming in color resplendent the flower of youth The flower of youth

Walk like a woman/told you once or twice you were the only one I couldn’t be there too Told you once or twice that there was nothing we could do/ and you know it’s nothing Two times forward never gonna stop:then we’re gonna hit the Hearts syncopated/I told you once or twice that it would tear us down/ every standing wall/ I’ve done it all before so I know everything must fall/ and when there’s nothing left at all I’m crawling underneath the gate Pissing in the kitchen

about

From the Producer:

Have you ever seen one those vans with a paint job like the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel but in place of cherubs are wizards? Sparrowhawk is the soundtrack to that lifestyle. This is Guitar Rock triple-distilled and delivered in earnest. Dress yourself in denim from corns to cowlick, start smoking cigarettes again, and brush up on Thin Lizzy.

Sparrowhawk’s long awaited debut is working class rock n roll at its finest. Zach McCormick’s bass lines are as infectious as the guitarmonies* of Marty Mueller and Johnny Eggerman, and the vocals (Eggerman/McCormick) are not merely decorative pillows on this plush sepia sofa. You know the one. All backed by the deep in the pocket percussive power provided by drummer, Damien Tank.

The self-titled album is due to come out in time for summer which is perfect since you’re gonna want to cut the sleeves off all your shirts and roll down the windows to get the full Sparrowhawk experience.

Cheers!

about

Sparrowhawk Minneapolis, Minnesota

Sparrowhawk was formed in Minneapolis in 2018 by four dudes whose previous bands include Private Interests, Mystery Date, Southside Desire, and Radio On. Their sound combines the big riffs and guitar harmonies of '70s van rock legends like Thin Lizzy with power-pop, glam, and first wave punk sounds from both sides of the Atlantic.
